William Golding and Rick Stein’s Cornwall

William Golding was featured on episode 9 of the BBC series Rick’s Stein Cornwall, broadcast on 13th January. In the series, Stein journeys across Cornwall, exploring food, art and culture. Golding was born in Newquay and in the last years of his life, moved back to the county. His home, Tullimaar, was featured on the show and Stein interviewed Golding’s daughter, Judy. They discussed Lord of the Flies and its beginnings in Cornwall, and looked particularly at the sea, which Golding both feared and loved as ‘the cruellest part of nature’.
