Matthew Bourne’s Lord of the Flies in Australia: Reviews round-up
Matthew Bourne’s phenomenal adaptation of Lord of the Flies has just completed its first performances in Melbourne, Australia.
The production has received excellent reviews! Jane Howard, in the Guardian, writes that the adaptation ‘is at its strongest when it’s at its rawest: telling the story in metaphor not literalism’, while Eamonn Kelly, in The Australian, states that its ‘physical directness will elicit powerful responses’. Deborah Stone suggests that young people will particularly enjoy the production and cites the fact that many of the cast are not professional dancers, and ‘they are all energetic, well-trained and engaging’.
Let’s hope Bourne’s Lord of the Flies tours again soon!
