As part of Faber & Faber’s relaunch of Golding’s novels, new editions of Rites of Passage, Close Quarters and Fire Down Below have just been released. The three books make up The Sea Trilogy and Rites of Passage won the Booker Prize in 1980. Pulitzer-Prize winning American novelist Annie Proulx introduces the first part of the trilogy and writes that ‘literary gems tumble off the pages’ of Rites of Passage. Close Quarters includes a foreword by British historian Helen Castor. Kate Mosse, the best-selling British novelist, introduces Fire Down Below.
