Linda Grant: Golding Speaker at Marlborough LitFest 2024

Multi-award winning author Linda Grant has been announced as the Golding Speaker at the 2024 Marlborough Literature Festival. The Golding speaker opens the festival each year, and is sponsored by William Golding Ltd, in recognition of Golding’s links with the Wiltshire town. Golding grew up in Marlborough, attended Marlborough Grammar School, and later used Marlborough (renamed as Stillbourne) as the setting for his novel The Pyramid.

Grant won the Orange Prize for Fiction for her novel When I Lived in Modern Times and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize for The Clothes on Their Backs. Her latest novel, The Story of the Forest, was published in 2023. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

The Marlborough Literature Festival is scheduled 26th–29th September. Tickets are on sale now.
